Zabuza sat aboard his ship. He had been sitting there, deep in meditation, for many days now. His stomach grumbled, and his lips were dry. He had not moved in a long time. Zabuza flexed his legs and stood. Faint popping sounds issued from his knees as joints moved for the first time in quite a while.
"Time for a little fresh air.", he said raspingly.
Zabuza made the short trek into the town of Trabia. He sniffed, detecting the smell of cooking meat. Hungrily, he made his way toward it. He found himself at a nondescript building which was obviously an eating establishment of some sort. He opened the door and strode in. There was a soft tinkle of bells announcing his presence. Almost immediately a young attractive woman was there in front of him.
"Please follow me. ", she said, grabbing a menu. Agreeably, he did so. She led him to a table with two high-backed chairs.
"Please, be seated. May I take your drink order?", she said.
"Yes. Sake."
"I'm sorry sir, we don't serve that here. Perhaps something else?"
"It doesn't matter, just be quick about it."
Moments later the woman returned with a large mug filled with some brown liquid. Zabuza drank it thirstily, although it was a bit sweet for his taste.
"Here is a menu. Let me know when you're ready to order.", said the woman. She handed him the brightly colored menu and quickly walked away to see about other customers. Zabuza opened the menu and stared in confusion. He didn't recognize any of the dishes on it. Looking around in confusion, he wondered just what kind of establishment he had entered. Several of the patrons around him had food that smelled good, but was unfamiliar to him. Finally, he came to a decision. He would order randomly. That decided, he flagged down the waitress.
"You ready to order sir?"
"Yes, I will have...", he paused for a second, then pointed to a random spot on the menu.
"Very well sir.", she said, squinting to see the dish he pointed to. I will return with your food shortly."
A few minutes passed, and Zabuza spent them studying a nearby television. It was situated over a mostly vacant bar, and was playing the news. It was busy going on about some sentimental story or other. Not very interesting, but good for a laugh. His attention was drawn by a large plate coming into view held in front of his struggling waitress. His eyes widened as she sat the plate in front of him. It held a huge concoction of meat, bread, and cheeses. Unsure what to do, he looked at the woman.
"Enjoy our Texas sized burger. If you finish it in an hour or less, it's free!", she said. With that, she walked away and left Zabuza to his meal.
Somewhere around fifty five minutes later, Zabuza pushed his plate back with a sigh. It had been a long time since he had a meal, let alone one so large. Content, he belched once. His waitress stopped by and stared in disbelief.
"Well sir, looks like you won. How was it?"
"Good."
"Well, congratulations sir. Is there anything else I can get you?"
"Yes, another drink. I won't be moving for a while."
The woman smiled and fetched his drink for him.
As Zabuza sat there, his attention drifted to the television once more. The news had shifted to a new story, one that was much more interesting. He listened carefully as the announcer spoke.
"...known only as Nightmare. This man, if he could be called that, has held the world in a grip of terror for more than a month now. No one is safe, he has already targeted Space Patrol facilities as well as high security ShinRa Corporation Research Stations. Eye witness reports from the few survivors place him as a tall man wearing strange armor. He wields a huge sword of a horrifying description. If you see him, do your best to escape as fast as you can. Indeed, it is dark times we live in..."
Zabuza blinked. A new evil had emerged. A new madman slaughtering people. This time, perhaps, he wouldn't have to get involved.
OOC: Had a large meal, won a contest, and found out about Nightmare. Fairly eventful. Will leave a 100 gil tip for the waitress. Heh.
