D walked through the club, loud music thumping. In a city of magic, this place was decidedly out of place. The club was quite modern, with state of the art music equipment. The speakers were quite small and set into the wall, but the noise they put out was far more than would be expected from something so small. Bright lights flashed repeatedly, giving the place an eerie atmosphere. A mist machine blew multi colored mist across the room, bathing the dancers in colored fog. It seemed everyone there was having a good time, except for D.
He strode through the crowded room, his coat billowing out behind him like a cloak. He slid up to the bar, and after a few moments a man dressed in bright colors asked him his drink order. The music was somehow quieter here, and voices could be easily overheard.
"Nothing, thanks. I am looking for someone.", said D.
"Oh, what is her name? You're a bit dark for this place, but I am sure there are quite a few women here who wouldn't mind your company.", said the bartender.
"Actually, It's a man. A doctor who went missing quite a few day, perhaps a week or two ago. Last I heard he was heading here, looking for something...strange."
"Oh, yeah. We had a guy like that in here, perhaps a week ago. Talking about some weird bite marks. I'm sure I wouldn't know anything about that.", said the man.
"Think hard."
"Aw, come on man, I don't know anything. At least, if I did know something, I forgot it. Perhaps if there is some way you can job my memory..."
"I take your meaning.", said D. He reached out his hand, palm down. The man smiled and reached his hand out for a tip. D's hand lashed out, grabbing the man's face.
"The...doctor...he was here...they took him. They said...to the warehouse...Damn it, you freak...what are you doing to me? They left with him....he was in...some sort of trance...looked like he was drugged..."
D let go of the man's face. The man stepped back, well out of reach.
"What the hell was that?"
"Nothing to be concerned about."
D stood up and made his way across the crowded dance floor to the exit. It was obvious to him that he wouldn't get anything else here. If there was any evidence, it would have been destroyed by now with all the traffic. That, or it would have been cleaned up.
"Well, looks like you're at square one. You don't even have the name of a place this time, just the clue of a warehouse. There must be thousands of them in this city. There is no way-"
"Quiet, I'm trying to think."
Strangely, the voice did as it was bid and said no more.
